Our dogs

Our dogs and breed description We have had White Herders since 1987. We started with White, she was a puppy from the first litter that was born here in the Netherlands from the breeder Jan Jansen Daughter and granddaughter were Silky and Quinn, followed by two granddaughters of Quinn, Surya and Asu. Hidup is daughter of Asu and Impian van Surya These ladies are no longer there. We now have daughter Dewi van Impian and a granddaughter of Hidup, she is from Pintar the son of Hidup and a daughter of Cinta. Cinta was purchased by us and has thus come our third line. And our Badut is again a granddaughter of hers and a son of Surya, so we keep a new generation from our own bitch lines. We always buy males from other breeders. In 2000 we had a stud dog ourselves. bought: Intan The Lovely White Shepherd. The Netherlands Intan has since died of old age and has been succeeded by Cowok (Vic Leon Of the Healy's Future.) Germany Cowok is now 11 years old and Pintar, a son of Hidup, we have kept from our own breeding in order to preserve offspring of Hidup. We succeeded in the form of Bangga who comes out of a daughter of Cinta. Both males have now been taken out of breeding due to old age but are still alive. The males we have now are Intan (Felton v. Chona'ka) born . 2016 from the Netherlands with a Swedish father and Awas (Aragonas Prince of Cataline Wolf) b. 2018 from Serbia All our dogs have been to exhibitions and have received first prizes with 'excellent', including at the 'Winner' in Amsterdam. They are inspected and approved on HD and ED by the Board of Management in Cynological Area. They are of course MDR and DM free. We have also performed a DNA test on all dogs and we regularly breed a litter of puppies from our dogs. If you are interested, you can of course always contact us without obligation.

SWISS WHITE SHEEPDOG

The Swiss White Shepherd is a dog that has everything to fall in love with instantly! One look is often enough to become aware of their friendly personality, handsome appearance and tidy liveliness. They like to express having fun, a character trait with which they invite their owners to be active with them as well. Because in addition to being sweet, fun and sociable, they naturally remain smart Sheepdogs who love a challenge both physically and mentally.

Did you know that not all White Swiss Shepherds you meet on the street have an official pedigree? We call purebred dogs without a pedigree 'look-alikes'. Find out more about the difference between a pedigree dog and a 'look-alike' look at the site of the board of directors. https://www.oudenvanhonden.nl/hondenrassen/alle-rassen/fci-groep-1/zwitserse-witte-herdershond/

The White Swiss Shepherd is a powerful, well-muscled, medium-sized dog with upright ears, of rectangular size. It has a medium bone structure and elegant, harmoniously flowing lines. The height at the withers can vary from 58 to 66 cm in males and from 53 to 61 cm in bitches. The average weight of a male is approximately 30 - 40 kilos and of a bitch 25 - 35 kilos. The breed has two coat variants, namely long-stick hair and stick hair. Some are of the opinion that the long stick hair has a very high cuddly factor, while others really appreciate the powerful appearance of the stick hair variant.

Character

Sometimes a Swiss White Shepherd can take a look at the cat from the tree. However, it will usually thaw quickly. For some people this trait is a lesser trait, others see it as an advantage. It also happens that their intelligence, in combination with the softer character, leads to certain behaviors that can be somewhat complex for the owner. That is why a Swiss White Shepherd is definitely looking for a owner who does not just start a dog and whose nature it is to give a friendly, constructive and rewarding upbringing with consistent rules. It is also a dog with a considerable 'will to please' and that makes it very suitable for various branches of dog sports such as obedience, agility, flyball, tracking and all kinds of variations thereof. Of course you have to take into account the build of the individual dog. But above all, the Swiss White Shepherd is a dog who likes to have his basket in the house of his family, has a talent for getting along with children, loves to cuddle and walk, often poke for a game, walk next to the bicycle or likes to go swimming.

Grooming

The coat of the Swiss White Shepherd requires little extra care. The coat is supposedly 'self-cleaning'. Mud and sand are easy to blow out with a water blower, making frequent washing unnecessary. Twice a year the variety has a moulting period in which it is recommended to use the wax blowing method. Every extra brush and / or combing will help to keep the dog shedding throughout the year. Since hairs will be irrevocably pulled out and the coat will say: "Oh, I am losing hair" and will create new hair and the dog will end up in a vicious circle. This can of course also take place in a grooming salon.

There are of course the exceptions. A puppy should be taught that it is regularly touched. And in the first year of life, tangles can develop, especially behind the ears. This is because they don't have their original coat yet. There is only one at the age of one and a half. And there are the so-called castrate coats that have to be treated 4 times a year, otherwise it is impossible to keep up and in these coats unfortunately tangles do occur.

Health

The breed clubs; Swiss White Shepherd Association Netherlands, Breed Club for the Swiss White Shepherd and Dutch Association Berger Blanc Suisse are concerned with the health of the Swiss White Sheepdog. This is part of the club breeding regulations of every breed club. In it, they make the following examinations mandatory for the parent animals: Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, DNA testing for multi-drug resistance and degenerative myelopathy. We test our dogs for all DNA diseases from breed group I.

Diamond

Intan is the successor to Cowok and is named after our first own stud, where it all started. With Intan we have fresh blood in the bloodlines again and that is necessary to prevent inbreeding. Intan maintains well in the group, both with people and in the pack. He is social, not afraid of anything, but certainly not cheeky or dominant. He is a busy man, who does very well with agility. He is too quick for everyone! 'Intan' Felton v. Chona'ka Pearl / diamond 2016

Guy

Cowok is the real 'gentleman' in the company. You don't find them more gallant than him! He is always keeping his pack together. He is very sweet towards people and other dogs, but is clearly the boss! To the ladies he is always sweet and personable and would prefer to add them all directly to his pack! Cowok likes to go with the bike and we train GG 2 together, where he sometimes makes new exercises himself to the great hilarity of the rest of our training group. Cowok no longer covers.
